The Journal Obstetrics and Gynecology says that consuming 40 grams of flaxseed daily “…is as effective as oral estrogen-progesterone to improve mild menopausal symptoms and to lower glucose and insulin levels.”
A study reported in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism showed that some 40 grams, taken over a period of three months by postmenopausal women not on HRT, lowered both LDL and total cholesterol levels by 6%, and triglycerides by nearly 13%.
