Why whole flaxseed is better than the processed flaxseed oil

Whole flaxseed is preferable to flaxseed oil because as soon as flaxseed has been processed or pressed to extract the oil the exposure to air immediately starts to degrade the medically beneficial properties of flaxseed through a process called oxidation.

Omega-3 fatty acid for example is extremely unstable and breaks down very quickly when exposed to air. This is why mother nature encapsulated these medical wonders inside of the fiberous hull of a flaxseed.

When the oil is taken out of flaxseed all of the great benefits derived from the hull of the flaxseed are also removed. The hull contains molecules such as lignans, which have been shown to decrease the symptoms of menopause, soluble and insoluble fiber which helps to decrease cholesterol levels, and numerous other molecules such as protein.**

Thus the advantages of whole flaxseed versus flaxseed oil are at least two fold: whole flaxseeds are more stable and retain their medical benefits longer whereas flaxseed oil by itself is highly unstable and susceptible to oxidation and rancidity.

Our whole flaxseeds are 100% natural, gluten-free and straight from the farm with no secondary processing performed on them. They are also some of the highest purity available to the public. Certified 99.99% pure by the state of North Dakota.
